Harrisonville’s historic square will serve as the backdrop for the 2018 county-wide Veterans Day celebration honoring the Cass County residents who lost their lives during World War I.

The ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at The Beck Event Space.

After the ceremony, the event will conclude with the unveiling of a new monument to honor all county servicemen who lost their lives in the war.

Serenity Hospice House will host the event.

Andrea Murphy, Veteran Services Coordinator for Serenity Hospice House, says she is optimistic about the event.

“My hope is that, as a community, we will come together to honor the brave souls that died for our freedom, as well as show our local veterans and active-duty military members that we support them. They should all know that we appreciate them and that there is nowhere else we would rather be,” she said.

Nov. 11, 2018, marks the 100-year anniversary of the end of World War I.
