HPR is currently accepting applications for the following part-time positions:


Part-time year-round position of Special Events Coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Parks & Recreation Director, this position will be responsible for researching, organizing, implementing, and evaluating all departmental special events held at the Harrisonville Community Center and throughout the parks system. This position will be responsible for promoting all departmental special events by creating high quality print flyers and/or brochures; registering program participants in the RecTrac recreation management software; and observing and interacting regularly with staff, patrons, and program participants to ensure the quality of all programs.
Scheduled working hours will be flexible outside of those hours in which the special events take place. Compensation for this part-time year round position is $10.00 per hour and is limited to 20 hours per week.
One year of event planning and marketing experience is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Marketing, Business or closely related field preferred, but not required. Must have knowledge of the professional principles, methods, and procedures in public recreation services and program administration. Must be able to execute and evaluate special events. Exceptional interpersonal, oral and writing skills and the ability to interact positively with a diverse population. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Year-round position responsible for performing a range of manual tasks including semi-skilled and skilled work, equipment operations and HCC maintenance and custodial duties to maintain a safe, clean and user friendly environment for all community center members and guests.  Responsible for daily rental set up and breakdown throughout the Community Center facility as well as other tasks as assigned.  Employee will operate modern building cleaning equipment such as automatic scrubbing machines, sweepers, floor buffers and power washers. Will at times assist with mowing, weed-eating and trimming around the HCC facility. High school diploma or GED required. Ability to safely operate basic lawn maintenance equipment is required. Regularly scheduled work hours for this position are Sundays from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Mondays from 1 p.m. - 10 p.m.; however hours are variable depending on facility rentals and additional hours may also be required throughout the year depending on facility needs. Position is limited to 25 hours per week at a STARTING rate of $8.00 per hour. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license to be eligible.
