Mission

Our mission is to deliver clean, safe drinking water to your home or business and to remove wastewater through proper and efficient maintenance of the sanitary sewer collection system.

Overview

The Combined Water-Sewer System (CWSS) Department reads 4,400 water and electric meters remotely with radio-read technology. Virtually all meters in the city, both water and electric have this radio-read capability and are read electronically. A uni-directional flushing program is completed annually to flush the distribution system and exercise each shutoff valve. In 2013, we began a program to clean and televise approximately 12 miles of the city's sewer collection system each year until we reach 100% completion. Sewer issues in other areas will be cleaned out on an as-needed basis.

Foundation Drain Program

Foundation drains allow groundwater to enter the sanitary sewer when they are connected to sewer laterals. The city encourages residents to remove foundation drains from sewer laterals to help reduce wastewater treatment operating costs. Homes built prior to 1975 with basements are most likely to have these types of connection. The city is currently offering a free removal program to disconnect the drains and install a sump pump in these types of residences.
