Information about Harrisonville's Reconnaissance Level Architectural Survey

The City of Harrisonville has contracted with Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) to conduct a reconnaissance-level architectural survey of this area to update survey records and increase the number of surveyed properties. This project will be completed as a planned four (4) phase resurvey of the city.  The 159-acre survey area is a residential area that includes approximately 330 primary properties.

The City has hosted two public meetings, and will host additional meetings in the futures.  The purpose of these meetings is to provide additional information on this project, its purpose and potential outcomes, and introduce the IES team.

A field investigation will be undertaken to document the general conditions within the survey area, recording information regarding the buildings and structures.  All resources more than 45 years in age will be recorded and photographed.  Information regarding property type, building construction, materials, setting, and other details will be recorded.

Photographs will be taken to avoid as much obstruction to the properties as is feasible.  The results of fieldwork and archival research will be documented in a final report which will be submitted to the City of Harrisonville and then the Missouri State Historic Preservation Office.

Most importantly, in conducting our research, we would like to hear from the community to gather information you may have on the history of the properties involved in this study.  We would love to hear local knowledge and perspectives on your history.  We invite you to reach out to us if you have an interest in contributing to our research.

If you have any questions or information to share, please contact either Christina Stanton at cstanton@harrisonville.com, or Morgan Granger at mgranger@intenvsol.com
